Central Station 150th Exhibition

On Saturday September 24, 2005, Central Station hosted the first of a two day display of locomotives, rollingstock and other paraphenalia that has comprised NSW Railways History over the 150 years of operation.

On the Concourse was displays of Rail, dog spikes, tools and machinery used to build and maintain track; Signalling and Safeworking equipment; and miniature models of passenger and freight rolling stock. Platform 1 played host to steam & diesel locomotives, early electric passenger cars, wooden bodied passenger stock and four wheel freight wagons, most of which was supplied by the NSW Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere.

On Platform 4, Steam shuttles between Central and Hurstville were available every 45 minutes with trains comprising a push/pull combination of 3801/3526 and 3830/3112. From 11am to 2pm (Saturday Only), the Indian Pacific was available for inspection prior to its departure for Perth. Mortuary Station was open for viewing with CPH 1 & 7 available for rides along the Suburban Goods lines running via Meeks Road, Enfield & Chullora returning via the Inner West.

Tempe Bus & Truck Museum were on hand to tranport spectators using Vintage buses on truncated routes 417 & 444 to "Railway Colonnade".
